On the Road

Day 1: Vientiane to Na Nam: 95km
Felt like a big day, although it was mostly flat. Only a couple of hills. Nice quiet roads.
About 40km in i bumped into a crazy Kiwi cyclist. We've been travelling together ever since. Top bloke.

Destination was a fishing village on the shore of a massive reservoir, dotted with heaps of islands. You can't see to the other side its that big.
Was fed home brew lao rice wine/ spirits by some local lads. Its rude to say no.

Day 2: Na Nam to Vang Vieng: 108km
Deep fried pastries for breakfast. Tasty.
Pretty long day, but wasn't too hard. Still flat. Quite strange coming from quiet rural villages to VAng Vieng, very touristy place.
Most people spend the day floating down the river in inner tubes, stopping at the bars on the river bank. We did this for a coupla days. Awesome party spot.

Also had a days kayaking and walked/ swam about 200 metres through a big cave.

I am nursing a nasty hangover after three days of drinking in Vang Vieng with James and some Swedish girls. Think my kiwi friend and i are bad influences on each other.
Good fun tho. Back on the bike tomorrow, will be the best way to detox..
Oh yeah my new camera sank into the river, totally sucks! Especially as the next few days we will be riding through some of the most impressive scenery of the country. Damn. Will try and get a camera in the next big town.
